Conceptual Metaphors in Political Discourse: Evidence from the Speeches of King Abdullah II of Jordan

This paper reports on the findings of a study that aims at exploring conceptual metaphors in political speeches King Abdullah II Jordan which are delivered Plenary Sessions United Nations General Assembly. Eight King, downloaded from his official website, analyzed by adopting cognitive metaphor theory (CMT) proposed Lakoff and Johnson (1980). The reveals there four dominant themes these speeches: (1) Israeli-Palestinian conflict, (2) Syrian crisis, (3) terrorism, (4) reform Jordan.
